Our Children and the Masjid

The Statement of the Messenger : - صلى الله عليه وسلم
"Order your children to pray at the age of seven, and hit them [lightly if they don't] when they are ten and separate them from one another in their beds."
These are Islaamic etiquettes that must be adhered to; ordering the children to pray at the age of seven. Ordering them does not mean that you say; ‘Pray’ to them and that’s it, the Messenger - عليه الصلاة والسلام - ordering us to order our children to pray necessitates that we teach them how to pray. Otherwise, ordering your child to go the Masjid to pray while you haven’t taught him how to purify himself or how to pray is not fulfilling your responsibility. You fulfill your responsibility when you teach him how to purify himself, teach him how to pray, then order him to pray, it is then that you have acted out the order [of the Messenger].
As for the negligence of a lot of people, those who bring their child to the Masjid at the age of seven or younger, without being in a state of purity, without knowing how to pray, and then place them in the row – then this row is considered to be disconnected because of this child standing there. This is because this child is not praying, and this Hadeeth is enacted on the parent:
"Whoever connects the line will be connected by Allaah [to His reward], and whoever disconnects the line will be disconnected by Allaah [from His reward]."
You carry a child that does not understand how to pray, and you place him in the front row with you behind the Imaam? The people are only being silent out of courtesy, because this child is not in prayer, he may not even be upon purity, maybe not even in his physical body. This is because you just took him from your home without teaching him how to purify himself and how to pray to begin with.
This is erroneous, what you should be doing is teaching him how to purify himself and how to pray in your home firstly, then you teach him where and how to stand in the row [in the Masjid].

"If I was asked where is Allah?" I would say above the Heaven".

On the authority of Sadaqah, [who] said:

I heard Sulaymaan at-Taymee saying: "If I was asked where is Allah?" I would say above the Heaven".
Sulaymaan is from the leading Imaams of [the People of] al-Basrah in knowledge and action.

Note: Al-Laalikaa'ee reported this also (2/92). Sadaqah, he is Ibn al-Muntasir, Abu Shu'bah ash-Sha'baanee, Abu Zur'ah said: "The is no harm in him" all of its men (i.e. the narrators) are trustworthy, and al-Bukhaaree narrated it in "mu'allaq" form in "Af'aal ul-'Ibaad" (p. 71

Allaah Was Above His Throne Before Creating Anything

Al-Hasan bin Uthmaan informed us, saying: Alee bin Muhammad bin az-Zubayr informed us, saying: Ibraaheem bin Abil-Anbas narrated to us, saying: Ya'laa bin Ubayd narrated to us from Sufyaan from Abu Haashim from Mujaahid, who said: It was said to Ibn Abbaas, "There are some people who speak with [the rejection] of al-Qadr!". So he said:

They reject the Book. If I was to grab the hair of one of them, I would cut it off. Indeed Allaah the Mighty and Majestic was above His Throne before He created anything, then He created the creation. So He wrote whatever would happen until the Day of Judgement and indeed the people proceed upon an affair that has already been concluded.

From Mujaahid who said: It was said to Ibn Abbaas, "There are some people who speak with [the rejection] of al-Qadr!". So he said:

They reject the Book. If I was to grab the hair of one of them, I would have taken them by the forelock. Indeed Allaah the Mighty and Majestic was above His Throne before He created anything, then He created the creation. So He wrote whatever would happen until the Day of Judgement and indeed the people proceed upon an affair that has already been concluded.

Teaching the Children how to pray when they reach the age of Seven

It was narrated by ‘Amr bin Shu’ayb from his father from his grandfather who said that the Messenger of Allah (may the peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) said: (Order your children to perform prayer at the age of seven and spank them when they become ten. And give them separate areas to sleep in (when they reach these ages).)

And from Aboo Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said that the Messenger of Allah (may the peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) said: (Teach your children how to perform their prayers when the reach seven years and spank them when they become ten. And separate them in their beds.)

And from ‘Abdul-Maalik bin Rabee’ bin Sabrah al-Juhanee from his father from his grandfather who said that the Messenger of Allah (may the peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) said: (When a boy reaches seven years of age he is to be ordered to perform prayer and he is to be spanked when he reaches the age of ten.)

And it was narrated by al-Haatibee who is ‘Uthmaan bin Ibraaheem bin Muhammad bin Haatib who said that he heard Ibn ‘Umar saying to a man, “Teach your child good manners for you are responsible for what you teach him or her and he or she will be responsible for being righteous with you and obeying you.)

And ‘Alee (may Allah be pleased with him) said concerning the statement of the Most High: {Save your selves and your families from the fire…} at-Tahreem: 6“Teach them (their religion) and show them how to have good manners.”

Advice for Educating the Muslim Children

By Umm 'Abdillaah al-Waadi'iyyah, translated and narrated by Aboo 'Abdullaah Hasan as-Sumaalee

Review:

The first advice from the book entitled ‘Naseehatee lin-Nisaa’ (My Advice to the Women), authored by Umm 'Abdillaah al-Waadi'iyyah, the daughter of the late Imaam of Yemen, al-‘Allaamah Muqbil Ibn Haadee al-Waadi’ee -rahimahullaah- Umm ‘Abdillaah is from those who are grounded in Islaamic knowledge as her noble father has mentioned.

Who is Umm ’Abdillaah al-Waadi’iyyah?

Stated al-’Allaamah Muqbil Ibn Haadee al-Waadi’ee – rahimahullaah – concerning his daughter – Umm ’Abdillaah al-Waadi’iyyah, “She has benefited (mustafeedah) and is a strong researcher.  She has writings, from them: Naseehatee lin-Nisaa‘ [published], al-Jaami’us-Saheeh fil-’Ilm wa Fadlihi [to be published] and al-Jaami’us-Saheeh fish-Shamaa‘ilil-Muhammadiyyah [published].  Indeed, many of her sisters for the sake of Allaah have benefited from her.  So she has taught them, at-Tawheed, Sifatus-Salaatin-Nabee of al-Albaanee, at-Tuhfatus-Sanniyyah and al-Baa’ithul-Hatheeth.  Indeed, they have benefited and some from amongst them have become benefited researchers of the books of Sunnah.  May Allaah grant us and them steadfastness upon the truth.  Indeed, He is capable of everything.” Taken from Tarjumah Abee ’Abdur-Rahmaan (p. 52) of Imaam Muqbil Ibn Haadee.

The first lecture from the 8 tape set is focused upon the etiquettes of raising children.  Allaah, the glorified and exalted said,

O you who believe! Ward off from yourselves and your families a Fire
(Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, over which are (appointed) angels stern (and) severe, who disobey not, (from executing) the Commands they receive from Allaah, but do that which they are commanded. [Suratut-Tahrim: 66:6]

After introducing some of the primary responsibilities of the husband and the wife in an Islaamic marriage, the noble sister explains twenty-one points with proofs and evidences from the Qur’aan and authentic sunnah on the topic of raising children:

1.       To teach the child, ‘Where is Allaah?’
2.       Instructing the child to eat with his/her right-hand.
3.       Teaching the child not to blow on hot food/drink.
4.       Instruct the child by age 1-1½ to mention ‘bismillah’ upon eating/drinking.
5.       To teach the child the pillars of Islaam and eemaan.
6.       To teach the child the rulings of wudhoo.
7.       Eat with your right hand and eat which is near to you.
8.       Get them accustomed with good and command them with salaat at 7yrs of age.
9.       Arrange their beds separately when they are 10yrs of age.
10.   Accustom them with fasting.
11.   Teach your child the correct ‘aqeedah.
12.   Advice your child with that with Luqmaan advised his child.
13.   To seek permission to enter a house or a room.
14.   Teach them the matters which are forbidden that they main abstain from them.
15.   Explaining the meaning of an aayah or hadeeth that is being related of them.
16.   Connect their hearts to Allaah.
17.   Give concern to the memorisation of the Qur’aan.
18.   Do not leave your children to mix with foolish children.
19.   Do not leave your child outside in the evening.
20.   Do not leave the child to play alone and do not make learning boring.
21.   Make your child sit with those who are righteous.

Teaching Children Tawheed

*As worship (العبادة) is the purpose and reason for which mankind was created, then it is vital for us to clearly understand what this worship is, specifically what is its definition, what are its pillars and what are its conditions.*

**Allaah Tabaraka wa Taýalaa mentions

And verily We have raised in every nation a messenger, (proclaiming): Serve Allah and shun false gods. Then some of them (there were) whom Allah guided, and some of them (there were) upon whom error had just hold. Do but travel in the land and see the nature of the consequence for the deniers! (36) Surah An-Nahl 16 :36

This affair of Aqeedah(Creed) is extremely important for the believers to focus on and give it their priority (main importance). There is no doubt that other subjects  of Tarbiyah and Tazkiya and like Tazkiya tul nafus (soul purifications) itýs tremendously important in Islam.
Therefore, it is important for the believer to understand the importance of this particular subject  The Tawheed and the Aqeedah (Creed) of the Believers.**
And Alhamdulilah I found a brief summary for the subject of Tawheed- to be taught  to children by Dr.Saleh As Saleh (رحمه الله) compiled in a pdf file in this link :

The Ruling on reciting Surah Al-Kahf on Friday
Question:

What is the ruling on reciting Surah Al-Kahf on Friday during the day and night?
Answer:

The recitation of Surah Al-Kahf on Friday is a preferred act and there is merit in it ... and there is no difference between a person reciting it from the Book, or by heart ... and the day, according to the Islamic law, is from the time of sunrise until sunset ... and based upon this, if a person recites it after the Friday prayer, he will receive the reward for it.

Children and the Knowledge of Hadeeth

Muhammad ibn al Husayn ibn al Fadl al Qattaan narrated...that Miskeen ibn Bukayr stated: A man passed by al ‘Amash while he was teaching Hadeeth and said: ‘You are teaching these children?!’
Al ‘Amash responded: ‘These children are preserving your religion for you!’
Al Hasan ibn Abee Taalib informed me that…I heard al Musayyib ibn Waadi’ saying: ‘Ibn Mubaarak may Allaah have mercy upon him, if he saw the children of the people of Hadeeth with pens in their hands he would draw them close and say: ‘These are the seedlings of the religion, we were told that the Messenger of Allaah - صلى الله عليه وسلم – said:
“Allaah continues to plant seedlings in this religion that He supports it with, they are youngsters amongst you today, but they may be the Kibaar [major scholars or elders] after you.”
Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Rizq informed us that…‘Abdullaah ibn ‘Ubayd ibn ‘Umayr said: ‘Amr ibn al ‘Aas stood at a circle of knowledge amongst Quraysh and said:
“Why have you discarded these children? Do not do so, make space for them in the circle, let them hear Hadeeth and make them understand it. Indeed they are the youngsters amongst you now, and they will soon be the Kibaar of others. You were once the youngsters of a people, and today you are the Kibaar of your people.”
Muhammad ibn al Faraj ibn ‘Alee al Bazaar narrated to us that…Zayd ibn ibn Ahkzam said: ‘I heard ‘Abdullaah ibn Dawood saying: ‘It is befitting for a man to force his children to listen to Hadeeth.’ He also used to say: “Religion is not by talk, indeed religion is only the Athaar [narrations].”
Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Rizq informed us that…an Nadar ibn al Haarith said: I heard Ibraheem ibn Adham saying: ‘My father said to me:
“My son, study Hadeeth, for every time you hear and memorize a Hadeeth I will give you a Dirham.” So I studied Hadeeth upon that.”
